HypCut and Zorocut: DXF for Bochu's high-power controller

HypCut runs Bochu's FSCUT8000 lasers above 8 kW. It opens a plain DXF only in Flexible production mode and works best with CypNest task files. What that means for Zorocut's nested DXF. Status: untested.

Short answer

HypCut is Bochu's control software for high-power fiber lasers: it runs on the HypTronic controller of the FSCUT8000 system, which Bochu sells for lasers above 8 kW. Its manual opens a DXF only in Flexible production mode — Volume production takes CypNest and CypCut task files (nrp, nrp2, lxd, lxds) only — so a Zorocut DXF goes in one sheet at a time, and HypCut adds the leads, kerf compensation and micro-joints. Status: untested; set the controller to Other in Zorocut.

What HypCut is

  • Software by Bochu (Friendess) for flat-sheet laser cutting. The manual says it must work with the HypTronic master motion controller, on which it comes pre-installed.
  • Bochu's FSCUT8000 page describes an EtherCAT bus controller for fiber lasers above 8 kW and presents HypCut as its software; the HypCut download page labels one build, 2022C, as made for FSCUT8000 with HypTronic.
  • The newest build on that page is V2025A (December 2025). The manual we read describes version 1.0.2220.5, so menus may have moved.
  • The manual says HypCut has only simple drawing tools and works best with CypNest, Bochu's nesting program, which sends task files to the machine over the network.

What HypCut opens

ModeFiles it opensZero point
Volume productionnrp, nrp2, lxd, lxds (CypNest and CypCut task files)Fixed: a saved workpiece zero
Flexible productionThe same, plus DXF and NCFloating: where the head is when machining starts
DebugDXF, LXD, G and NC, and G-code from ACTcut and LantekNot stated

On import HypCut tidies the drawing: it removes duplicates, connects unclosed segments, removes tiny shapes, tells inner from outer contours and sets a cutting order. It has 7 layers, each with its own technique — speed, laser power, gas pressure, nozzle height — and a layer can be set as unprocessed.

What Zorocut exports for HypCut

The same file as for every controller: one ASCII DXF per sheet, R2000 (or R12), in mm, with only LINE, ARC and CIRCLE on the layers ZC_CUT, ZC_MARK, ZC_ENGRAVE, ZC_SHEET and ZC_LABEL, and the sheet's lower-left corner at 0,0. Zorocut writes no nrp2 or lxds task files, so the Volume production queue is closed to it: each sheet is opened on its own in Flexible production.

Settings in Zorocut

  1. Machine tab: kind Fiber laser, your power in W, Controller Other.
  2. Export profile DXF R2000; R12 only if HypCut refuses the file.
  3. Switch Part labels and Sheet outline off: the manual does not say how HypCut treats DXF text or extra layers, so send it only what is cut or marked.
  4. Copy the sheet files to the HypTronic PC by USB stick or network share.

On the machine

  1. Choose Flexible production, click Open and pick the sheet's DXF from the disk.
  2. Look at which HypCut layer each contour landed on: the manual does not describe how DXF layers are assigned to its 7 layers. Move the marking lines to their own layer before cutting.
  3. Add lead lines, compensation and micro-joints in graphic correction, then match a cutting technique for the material and thickness.
  4. Frame or find the edge before the first cut: in Flexible production the zero is where the head stands when machining starts, and the manual recommends checking it first.

Not verified yet

  • No HypCut import has been done with a Zorocut file. Cut a scrap sheet first.
  • The manual does not say how HypCut assigns DXF layers or colours to its 7 layers, which DXF versions it reads, or whether it reads the unit from the header — see DXF units if parts come in at the wrong size.
  • Whether newer HypCut builds open DXF in Volume production too is not stated on Bochu's page.

Frequently asked questions

Can Zorocut write HypCut task files (nrp2)?

No. Zorocut writes DXF only. nrp2 and lxds are Bochu formats that CypNest writes; HypCut opens a DXF in Flexible production.

Is HypCut the same as CypCut?

No. Both are Bochu software and both read DXF, but CypCut runs on the smaller FSCUT controllers (see the FSCUT page), while HypCut runs on the HypTronic controller of the FSCUT8000 high-power system and has 7 layers instead of 16.

Why is the status untested?

Because nobody has opened a Zorocut DXF in HypCut yet. The manual documents enough to expect it to open in Flexible production, not enough to promise it. Tell us in the community if you try.
