Export DXF for CypCut and FSCUT: map the layers once

Export one ASCII DXF per sheet, R2000 (or R12 for older software), in mm, with only lines, arcs and circles — then map its layers in CypCut once: ZC_CUT to a cut layer, ZC_MARK to layer 15, ZC_LABEL and ZC_SHEET to layer 0, which is not processed. Lead-ins, kerf compensation and micro-joints are added in CypCut, not in the DXF.

Steps
  1. Export one DXF per sheet from Zorocut (profile R2000, or R12 for older software)
  2. Import it in CypCut and map the ZC_ layers in the Layer mapping dialog
  3. Add lead-ins, kerf compensation and micro-joints in CypCut, check the path, then cut

Which controllers this covers

FSCUT2000C and FSCUT4000 controllers ship CypCut as their control software; the EtherCAT models FSCUT2000E and FSCUT4000E run CypCutE. All of them read DXF and clean it on import: they remove tiny shapes and duplicate lines, join unclosed shapes, smooth, and detect inner and outer contours. An open contour is not a contour to CypCut — it is drawn in red and not cut as a part.

What Zorocut writes

ItemValueWhy
FormatASCII DXF R2000 (AC1015); R12 as an optionLines, arcs and circles are valid in both, so R12 costs nothing
Unitsmm ($INSUNITS = 4)One unit, stated in the header
EntitiesLINE, ARC, CIRCLE onlyNo splines, ellipses, polylines or blocks for an importer to smooth or misread
ArcsThe original arcs, moved and turned — never re-approximatedHoles stay round; nothing for import smoothing to change
JointsConsecutive segments share identical end pointsContours close at any import tolerance
OriginThe sheet's lower-left corner at 0,0; one sheet per filePredictable placement on the table
Not writtenLead-ins, kerf compensation, micro-joints, G-codeThe controller adds them; Zorocut never drives the machine

The layers

DXF layerContentsMap it in CypCut to
ZC_CUTCut contours: outlines and holesA cut layer, e.g. layer 1 (or this material's process layer)
ZC_MARKMarkingLayer 15 — CypCut runs it first
ZC_ENGRAVEEngraving, open paths allowedA marking layer
ZC_LABELPart names as text (option)Layer 0 — not processed
ZC_SHEETThe sheet outline (option, on a layer that is switched off)Layer 0 — not processed

Nothing is written on DXF layer 0. CypCut's own layer 0 is its background layer, which is never cut, and AutoCAD's default layer is also called 0: keeping it empty means the two are never confused.

Map the layers once

  1. Import the DXF in CypCut. When the file has more than one layer, the Layer mapping dialog opens.
  2. Assign ZC_CUT to your cut layer, ZC_MARK to layer 15, and ZC_LABEL and ZC_SHEET to layer 0.
  3. Leave the import optimisation (File → User parameters) as it is: on a clean file it finds no duplicates or gaps to fix.
  4. Add lead-ins, kerf compensation and micro-joints with CypCut's own tools, check the cut order — CypCut can sort it again — and simulate before cutting.

Because Zorocut always writes the same five layer names, the mapping is the same on every job. Whether CypCut remembers it between imports depends on your version — the manuals we read do not say.

Common problems

  • Two parts sharing a line: CypCut removes duplicate lines on import, so a shared edge could leave a contour open. Zorocut never writes two parts on one line — the part spacing is always above zero — and leaves common lines to CypCut's co-edge tool (common-line cutting).
  • Wrong scale: the DXF is in mm. If CypCut shows the parts 25.4× too big, it is reading inches — see DXF units.
  • Labels being cut: map ZC_LABEL to layer 0, or switch Part labels off in the machine's export profile.
  • Older software that cannot open the file: switch the machine's export profile to R12. The entities are the same; only the header is older.
