Changelog

What changed in Zorocut.

Changes you can see or feel in the app, the online nester and the website, newest first.

Updated

Zorocut Nest has no public release yet: the app entries below are development builds. From the first release, each version's “What's new” appears here with its number.

Website
  • 10 guides (part spacing, DXF units, export for CypCut and FSCUT, plasma via SheetCAM, cutting speeds, pierce time, pricing, remnants, common-line cutting, clean DXF from CAD) and 11 “Zorocut vs” pages, each fact with its source and the day it was checked.
  • New: the Learn hub, one page per controller (CypCut, FSCUT, SheetCAM, Hypertherm Phoenix) with an honest status, the blog and this changelog.
  • Guides and comparison pages are now written in all 10 site languages.
  • Checkout asks a business for its VAT ID, and Stripe verifies the number.

Zorocut Nest · development build
  • Copy and paste parts on the sheets: ⌘C, ⌘V, ⌘D duplicates, ⌘X cuts; a pasted copy lands at the mouse or snug beside the selected one, at exactly the spacing.
  • Right-click menu on the canvas: Copy, Cut, Paste here, Duplicate, Turn and Delete this copy, with their shortcuts.
  • Move parts by hand: drag a copy (also to another sheet), arrow keys in 1 or 10 mm steps, Shift+R to turn; refused when it breaks the spacing or margin.
  • Cut order: parts are exported hole first, outline last, nearest next; a Nest-view toggle numbers them and shows the rapid moves.
  • Remnants: a rack of offcuts used first for the same material and thickness; after an export the used ones leave and free strips of 100 mm or more join.
  • macOS: updates install themselves in place — no more dragging the app onto Applications again. Builds are signed with an Apple Developer ID.
  • After each export the app can send that machine's totals (sheets, parts, cut time; never the drawings) to your account; switch it off in the Machine tab.
Online nester
  • SVG files are accepted next to DXF, in the app and in the online nester.
  • Fixed: material was charged on whole-sheet utilisation, so two small plates on a big sheet were quoted 176 € instead of 60 €. Strips of 100 mm or more that go back to stock are no longer charged.
Nesting engine
  • The nesting search now runs on the clock, on a grid twice as fine, and slides every part to exactly the spacing: +1.0 point of mean density on our test jobs (74.88 → 75.89 %), still within the 3-second budget.
  • Benchmarked on the 13 public ESICUP instances: 76.94 % mean density in 3 s, 78.67 % in 30 s — the full table is on the blog.

Zorocut Nest · development build
  • Zorocut Nest replaces the DTF app it was forked from: Parts, Nest, Material, Machine and Quote tabs, Export DXF, Quote PDF and .zcut project files.
  • Exports and quote PDFs share the Free plan's 10 a month; nesting and preview stay unlimited.
  • An Offline licence shows “Works without internet · free updates until” its date.
Website
  • The website is rebuilt for cutting: home, Zorocut Nest, pricing, the free online nester, the laser cutting cost calculator and the DXF checker, in 10 languages.

Nesting engine
  • First nesting engine (Rust, native and WebAssembly): every layout is checked against the exact part geometry.
  • DXF import and cleanup, the pre-cut check, the quote engine and the DXF export (R2000 and R12, lines, arcs and circles only).
