What the XC3000 does with a DXF
- File → Open reads DXF, EMW, NC and NSP; Import adds another file to the drawing without clearing it. Save writes DXF, EMW or NC.
- The open dialog can optimize the drawing as it imports. The Optimize menu adds Smooth Line, Delete Duplicate (with a tolerance), Delete Invisible (below a minimum size) and Joint Segment (with a merging tolerance).
- Open shapes have no contour: the display can show them in red, and Select Open Figure picks them all.
- Inner and outer contours are told apart by position: the outermost is outer, the next one inside is inner, and so on.
- The software needs a dongle; without one it runs as a simulator.
Layers are process layers, set by selecting
The XC3000 has 8 layers: 7 process layers, each with its own parameters, and 1 for geometry that is not processed. You assign them by selecting contours and clicking a layer button on the process bar. The manual we read describes no dialog that maps DXF layer names or colours to these layers, so plan to assign them after each import.
| Zorocut layer | What to do in the XC3000 |
|---|---|
| ZC_CUT | Outlines and holes: Select All Outer Contour and Select All Inner Contour pick them; put them on the cut layer for the material |
| ZC_MARK | Select the marks and put them on a separate process layer with marking parameters |
| ZC_ENGRAVE | A separate process layer, or leave it out of the export |
| ZC_SHEET | Switch Sheet outline off in Zorocut, or put it on the unprocessed layer |
| ZC_LABEL | Switch Part labels off in Zorocut: the manual does not say how DXF text is read |
Settings in Zorocut
- Machine tab: kind Fiber laser, your power in W, Controller Raytools.
- Export profile DXF R2000; R12 only if the XC3000 refuses the file.
- Part labels and Sheet outline off, so the file holds only what is cut or marked.
- Copy the sheet files to the controller PC and open each with File → Open.
Nest in the XC3000 or in Zorocut
The XC3000 has its own auto-nesting: parts from the drawing, a rotation step, parts inside holes, mirroring, common edges, and a grid or compact strategy. It runs on the machine's PC and gives no price. Zorocut does the nest and the quote in the office before the sheet is loaded, so the XC3000 only has to cut. Shared edges stay with the controller: the XC3000 has a Co-edge tool, and Zorocut leaves common-line cutting to it.
Not verified yet
- No Zorocut DXF has been opened on a Raytools controller.
- The manual is version 1.0 for the XC3000 series, in a copy hosted by a third party; XC3000S and newer builds may differ.
- It does not state the DXF versions read, whether the $INSUNITS unit is honoured (it has an mm / inch display setting), how DXF text, blocks and splines are read, or whether DXF layers carry over.
Frequently asked questions
Which Zorocut setting do I use for a Raytools controller?
Controller Raytools. The DXF is the same as for CypCut; the setting names the machine in your jobs and history.
My machine has a Raytools cutting head. Is this my page?
Only if the software on the screen is the Raytools XC3000. A cutting head and a controller can come from different makers; if your screen shows CypCut, use the CypCut page.
Can Zorocut send the job to the XC3000?
No. Zorocut never drives a machine and never writes G-code. It writes DXF files into a folder; the operator opens them on the controller.
