Nesting for HSG fiber lasers: what is and is not documented

HSG lists an EtherCAT bus control system and professional nesting software on its fiber lasers, but names neither and documents no DXF import. What Zorocut exports for an HSG, and how to pick the setting. Status: untested.

Short answer

HSG's product pages describe a bus control system over EtherCAT and nesting software as standard, but do not name the control software or say which files it imports — so which controller an HSG runs is not documented by HSG. Zorocut can export its plain DXF per sheet (R2000, mm, only lines, arcs and circles); read the software's name on your machine's screen to choose the setting. Status: untested; Controller Other unless the screen shows CypCut or Raytools.

What HSG says about its control system

  • The C-series and GH Pro pages describe a bus control system that moves data over EtherCAT, with real-time monitoring of core components, millisecond-level follow-up response and one-click processing reports.
  • They say the system is compatible with codes of international brands, without naming a brand or a file format.
  • A production database holds cutting technology by material and thickness, including air cutting, counterboring and fast piercing.
  • The C-series datasheet lists professional nesting software as standard, with drawing tools, manual and automatic nesting, and Excel batch import.

The DXF is the same in every case; the setting names the machine in your jobs and tells you which page applies. The import steps are on the CypCut, HypCut and Raytools pages.

What Zorocut exports

One ASCII DXF per sheet, R2000 (or R12), in mm, with only LINE, ARC and CIRCLE on five layers — ZC_CUT, ZC_MARK, ZC_ENGRAVE, ZC_SHEET, ZC_LABEL — and the sheet's lower-left corner at 0,0. No splines, blocks or polylines, which gives an undocumented importer the least to misread.

Settings in Zorocut

  1. Machine tab: kind Fiber laser, your power in W, and the controller from the table above.
  2. Export profile DXF R2000; try R12 if the software refuses the file.
  3. Part labels and Sheet outline off, unless your software's page says how to map them.
  4. Open one sheet on the machine and check a part's size against the drawing before the first cut.

Not verified yet

HSG's pages we read do not name the control software, the nesting software or any file format, and no HSG import has been done with a Zorocut file. If you run an HSG, the software's name and its import menu are what we need — tell us in the community.

Frequently asked questions

Which controller does an HSG laser use?

HSG does not say on the pages we read: it describes an EtherCAT bus control system without naming the software. Read the name on the machine's screen or in its manual.

Can I still use Zorocut with an HSG?

Yes, for nesting and quoting. The export is a plain DXF in mm; whether the HSG software imports it unchanged is untested, so cut a scrap sheet first.

Is Zorocut affiliated with HSG?

No. HSG is named here only to describe compatibility.
