Almost no desktop nesting software for sheet metal runs on a Mac. ProNest LT, CypNest and CypCut are Windows programs, Deepnest's maintained fork is still looking for macOS testers, and Lapas, NestorCut, MyNesting, Nest&Cut, SheetDXF and Lantek iQuoting run in a browser. Zorocut Nest is a native app for macOS, Windows and Linux, and its free online nester runs in Safari too.

Why most of the market is Windows
Sheet-metal nesting grew up next to the machine, and the machine's PC runs Windows: CypCut, the control software on Bochu's FSCUT controllers, runs on the controller's Windows PC, and CypNest, Bochu's own nester, needs Windows 7 or later. Hypertherm installs ProNest LT on a Windows PC. A shop whose office runs on Macs has had two choices: a browser tool, or a Windows machine for the nesting.
Browser or native: what changes
- Where the files go: MyNesting and Lantek iQuoting process in the cloud; NestorCut computes on the device on Free and on its server by default on paid plans. Customer drawings leaving the building matters to some customers.
- Where the work happens: a cloud tool needs the connection for every nest; a native app nests and exports on the computer itself.
- The folder workflow: a desktop app can watch a folder for incoming DXFs and write one file per sheet straight to a USB stick or the controller's share.
Zorocut on macOS
- Zorocut Nest is built for Apple silicon and Intel Macs and signed with an Apple Developer ID; the first public release is still to come. Until it is published, the download page sends you to the online nester.
- The online nester runs the same engine in the browser as WebAssembly — Safari included: our end-to-end tests run it in WebKit. Nothing is uploaded.
- The export is the same on every system: one DXF per sheet for CypCut, FSCUT or SheetCAM, copied to the machine however you do it today.

Nest een DXF onlineVeelgestelde vragen
Can I run CypCut on a Mac?
CypCut is the control software on the machine's Windows PC; it is not meant for an office Mac. Zorocut does the nesting and quote on the Mac and hands CypCut the DXF.
Is there a free nester for Mac?
The browser free tiers and Zorocut Free all work on a Mac; Deepnest's macOS build is still looking for testers. The limits of each are in free nesting software.
Does Zorocut need an internet connection?
The app nests and exports on your computer. Signing in and the plan check need a connection; the Offline licence runs without internet after one activation.
